Hire car after an event for unlimited days

Hire car after an event for unlimited days: After an incident covered by your policy, if your regular use motor vehicle is damaged and cannot be safely driven, is being repaired or has been stolen, we will arrange and pay the reasonable cost of a hire car that is a similar make and model to your motor vehicle using our provider. Laid up cover

If your car is off the road and is not being driven, our laid up cover may reduce your premium.

Limited use cover

If you don't drive your car regularly, special premium rates may be available.

Club Plate cover

If your car is registered with Club Plates special premium rates may be available.

Payment options and ways you could save on your premium

With Shannons, you can pay your premium annually, but we won’t charge you any extra to pay monthly, quarterly or half-yearly.

Multi-vehicle discount

If you insure more than one vehicle on your policy (such as special vehicles and your daily drive), you might be eligible for a multi-vehicle discount.

Multi-policy discount

If you have an active motor policy with Shannons and then take out a home and contents policy with us, you might receive a discount of up to 10% off your home and contents premium.

Flexible excess

If you have Comprehensive cover (regular use), you can choose a ’Flexible excess’ that applies in addition to your ’Basic excess’ to reduce your premium.

Protected No Claim Discount (NCD)

Shannons rewards you for your good claims history with a No Claim Discount (NCD) that applies separately to each of your comprehensively insured vehicles. After you have remained on an NCD of 65% for 3 consecutive years it will become protected.

Cover for modifications and accessories

Shannons covers legal modifications and non-standard accessories listed on your policy, within the agreed value of your vehicle.

Agreed value

When you take out insurance, the agreed value of your vehicle includes the value of any modifications listed on your policy, accessories fitted to your car and paint protection.

Windscreen and window glass cover

Choice of repairer

Shannons gives you the option to choose your own repairer or we can manage the repair process for you.

Helmet and riding gear cover

Cover for your riding apparel such as helmets (including visor and/or radio communications), gloves, riding jackets and pants, boots and other bike-specific riding gear - up to $1000 per item and $3000 in total for the rider. Conditions and exclusions apply.

Agreed value – including modifications listed on your policy

When you take out insurance, the agreed value of your vehicle includes the value of any modifications listed on your policy, accessories fitted to your Bike and paint protection.

Pay monthly, quarterly or half-yearly at no extra cost

You can pay your premium annually, but we won’t charge you any extra if you choose to pay monthly, quarterly or half- yearly.

Salvage rights for total loss vehicles more than 35 years old

With our Comprehensive Car Insurance, if your vehicle is over 35 years old and your vehicle is a total loss, you will keep the unrepaired vehicle.

* NOTE: Salvage rights will not apply if your vehicle is stolen and we settle your claim as a total loss.
