Helmet and riding gear cover

Cover for your riding apparel such as helmets (including visor and/or radio communications), gloves, riding jackets and pants, boots and other bike-specific riding gear, up to $1000 per item and $3000 in total for the rider. Conditions and exclusions apply.

Agreed value – including modifications listed on your policy

If you like to modify and accessorise your bike, Shannons helps cover legal modifications and non-standard accessories listed on your policy, within the agreed value for your motorbike.

Pay monthly, quarterly or half-yearly at no extra cost

You can pay your premium annually, but we won’t charge you any extra if you choose to pay monthly, quarterly or half- yearly.

Loss or damage to your motorcycle

Shannons provides cover for accidental loss or damage to your bike caused by an insured event, including:

  • Hail, storm (including cyclone), flood and fire
  • Theft, or attempted theft
  • Malicious damage or vandalism
  • Collision and impact

Added benefits

New for old replacement for bikes less than 2 years old after a total loss if you’re the first registered owner.

If your bike is less than 2 years old, and you’re the first registered owner, we’ll replace it after a total loss, with a new bike of the same make and model (if available within 90 days), or similar if not available.

Otherwise, we’ll pay the agreed amount shown for your bike on your certificate, less applicable deductions.

Hire car after a not-at-fault incident while your regular use motorcycle is repaired, until your claim is settled.

Reasonable cost of a hire car that meets your transport needs after a not at fault accident while your regular use motorcycle is being repaired, or until your claim is settled. You must give us the name and address of the person at fault and the registration number of their vehicle.

Hire Car After an Event for Unlimited Days

After an incident covered by your policy, if your regular use motorcycle is damaged and cannot be safely ridden, is being repaired or has been stolen, we will arrange and pay the reasonable hire cost of a car that meets your transport needs using our provider. The most we’ll pay is $90 per day. For more information including limits, conditions and exclusions, refer to the PDS.

Payment Options & Discounts

With Shannons, you can choose to pay your premium monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly at no extra cost. You can also potentially save on your premium with these discounts.

Multi-vehicle Discount

Have more than one vehicle? You might be eligible for a multi-vehicle discount when you insure more than one bike or car with Shannons on one policy. Remember – the more bikes and cars you insure with Shannons, the greater discount you might receive.*

Protected No Claim Discount (NCD)

Shannons rewards you for your good claims history with a No Claim Discount (NCD) that applies separately to each of your comprehensively insured vehicles. After you have remained on an NCD of 65% for 3 consecutive years it will become protected.

Multi-policy Discount

If you have an active motor policy with Shannons and then take out a home and contents policy with us, you might be eligible to receive a discount of up to 10%* off your home and contents premium.

Discounts do not apply to the Shannons Roadside Assist optional cover. Check the Product Disclosure Statement and relevant Additional Information Guide for details.

Optional cover – Shannons Roadside Assist

A flat tyre, flat battery or breakdown when you’re out on the road on your bike can happen when you least expect it. Shannons Roadside Assist is a dedicated 24/7 roadside assistance service, available Australia-wide for your bike when you need it most.

Shannons Roadside Assist is available for breakdowns that occur from 24 hours after purchasing or adding Shannons Roadside Assist to your policy. Terms and conditions apply, see the Roadside Assist Terms and Conditions for full details.

Comprehensive cover for motoring enthusiasts

If your bike is not your main transport and you don’t use it regularly, you could benefit from special low usage rates.

Limited use cover

For when you use your motorcycle on average no more than twice a week.

Extreme limited use

For when you use your motorcycle on average no more than twice a month.

Laid up cover

Motorcycles that are not in use and at home; at a garage or workshop; or at motoring events, may be eligible for a lower premium.

Club Plate cover

If your motorcycle is registered with Club Plates, a lower premium rate may be available
